Then the next player goes with his hero.Įach hero has unique powers and abilities, some you always start with such as giving bonuses to your comrades or healing, but others you pick with each game like the Rangers twin-shot power, the wizards freezing cloud or the rogues great leap ability. Finally, the villain fights back against the heroes. During the exploration phase a new dungeon tile may be placed, along with a new random monster or possibly a random encounter like a slime attack, a crossbow trap or perhaps a haunting mist filling the dungeon. In the hero phase the hero can move his speed and attack. The player round is divided into three phases Pitting wits and muscle against spiders, wolves, zombies, gargoyles and wraiths among others and ultimately the villains of the adventures, flesh golems, dracoliches and the Master of Ravenloft himself to name a few. In Castle Ravenloft up to five players take on the roles of either the ranger, wizard, rogue, cleric or fighter, then descend into one of the 13 adventures pitting players against a random progressively generated dungeon working together to either destroy a villain, find a relic or any number of other goals as indicated in each adventure.
